Ginataang Hipon (Shrimps in Coconut Milk)

Monday, June 16, 2008

With the limited and typical recipes I know, I guess my family is getting bored with the daily menus prepared on the dining table. Good thing there are many resources available for me to try other recipes. What are those resources? The most commonly used nowadays is the Internet, by just typing the recipe you of the food want in the Google search bar, several results will appear. I am also a collector of recipes found in the packages of canned goodies, pasta, condiments, etc. There are times that I would even ask the fish or meat vendor on how to cook this and that (lol). Watching cooking shows on TV can also enhance the knowledge of a chef wannabe haha.

Last Saturday, I tried to cook Ginataang Hipon based on a recipe presented by a renowned chef on TV I used to watch a long long time ago…I was surprised I did very well, hehe. My family liked it very much *winks*. Here is the simple cooking procedure:

Ginataang Hipon (Shrimp in Coconut Milk)

Ingredients:
250 grams Shrimps
1 ¼ cup coconut cream
3 tablespoons Delmonte Tomato Paste
salt and 3 pcs siling labuyo (you can also ground pepper) to taste.

Instructions:
1. In a medium pot, bring coconut milk to a boil.
2. Add the shrimps and tomato paste and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
3. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Serve hot
